About the Role

Reporting to the COO, this position will play a pivotal role in shaping our technology landscape and ensuring the efficient operation of our lending platform. OnDeck is in an exciting period of localising its technology infrastructure, and this role will play a critical role in this journey.

This position requires a candidate with a deep understanding of platform solutions and lending processes. You have a strong technical background but you also have real commercial experience, and you thrive on accountability. You will be responsible for leading a team experienced with our existing platform solutions and operations, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and manage our lending platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Strategy: Develop and communicate the strategic vision for our lending platform, aligning it with business objectives and long-term goals.
  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to ensure our platform remains competitive and innovative.
  • Technical Roadmaps: Create and maintain technical roadmaps, ensuring that they support the growth and evolution of our lending products.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization & with vendors to gather requirements and ensure that architectural solutions meet business needs.
  • Platform Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operation of our lending platform, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
  • Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and partners to optimize platform capabilities and performance.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Budget Management: Manage the budget for the platform, including cost analysis and optimization initiatives.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 7+ years of proven experience in a senior technical leadership role, preferably within the fintech or lending industry. Experience with modern core banking platforms a major plus.
  • Strong background in solutions architecture, cloud technologies, and software development.
  • In-depth knowledge of fintech trends and lending processes in the Australian market.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management and vendor relationship management.
