Wellsite Geology
The role of the wellsite geologist is critical in any operation,
they are required to supervise service companies, collate and interpret
data at the wellsite and communicate the relevant information to
the geological team in the office and the drilling team at the wellsite.
Any wellsite geologist supplied, whether for deep water drilling or land based drilling, will have the following skill set:
Reporting and Communication
Good communication skills
Able to work independently when required
Compilation of daily geological reports and wireline logging reports
Quality control of mudlogs, LWD and wireline logs
Evaluation
Sample descriptions in water based and synthetic oil based muds
Hydrocarbon show evaluation
Core point, casing point and total depth selection
Pore pressure evaluation
MDT / RCI low shock sampling
Quick look petrophysical evaluation
Hydrocarbon contact identification
Net to gross quantification
